The Annual Energy Dinner 2023 sold out on April 20th and became the eagerly anticipated event for the energy sector. Highlighted topics included: resources, regulation, networks, trust relationships, and, among others, decarbonization amidst a declining hydrocarbon production scenario…

The central theme that brings us together tonight is Integration for Energy Security in South America. We want to know, as a means of communication, but above all as citizens of this region, rich in natural resources, marked by complex and difficult levels of interculturality, and facing situations of inequality and energy poverty, whether when we talk about ‘energy integration’, we are referring to simple international energy trade or to real planning and coordination, according to the capabilities and needs of the peoples, taking into account the rational and efficient use of natural resources,” said Vesna Marinkovic, Director of ENERGÍABolivia, at the opening of the event and with respect to the central theme of the panel.

She emphasized that “it is not easy to talk about energy in a world torn between meeting the increasing demand for energy and climate change, especially when in 2022 the planet surpassed 8 billion inhabitants; nor is it easy to talk about energy in Latin American countries where approximately 17 million people in the region lack access to electricity and 67 million people still do not have access to a clean cooking system. Therefore, the challenge for policymakers in the energy sector, especially in the region, is significant, just as significant is the challenge for our panelists who tonight, precisely tonight, will speak to us about energy,” Marinkovic said.
